Sony Music Publishing has found a new home in the A’DAM Toren, one of Amsterdam’s most recognisable landmarks. As an independent and creative division within Sony Music, the team needed a workspace that reflects who they are: musical, open-minded, a little rebellious, yet welcoming and down to earth. Interior designer Michou van Gennip translated this vision into a space that feels natural and honest—where the building’s raw character is embraced, equipment is part of the setting, and flexibility is built into the layout.
The design carefully balances the building’s bold structure with warmth and tactility. Living room-like areas were added to bring a more relaxed, homely feel to the open-plan layout, encouraging informal collaboration. Soft colours, warm materials and generous planting counter the exposed concrete and steel. Acoustic comfort was a key consideration throughout. ReFelt’s Double Acoustic Baffles in Sand were installed across the space to manage noise and add cohesion. In the studio rooms, Streets V-Cut Acoustic Panels in Cinnamon and Dark Grey enhance both acoustics and visual texture.
The result is a calm, creative environment that supports daily routines and spontaneous ideas alike. A space that sounds good, works well and reflects the people who use it. Designed to feel lived-in from day one, it’s a place where music and design come together—quietly and confidently.
